mitLeidenschaft – Foundation of the Johanneswerk

mitLeidenschaft – meaning „with passion“ in English – describes what the Johanneswerk foundation stands for: Being dedicated to the common good with commitment, energy and pleasure. mitLeidenschaft is a foundation that supports innovation and funding of diaconal work.

The foundation helps old people, and families living in poverty. It promotes projects for children and people with disabilities as well as projects in the field of dementia.

The concept of a foundation is old, but works like a modern intergenerational contract. A foundation guarantees stability and continuity, because the foundation’s assets cannot be touched, solely the annual interest earnings will be made use of anew. Only by this, we can provide for the next generation with certainty and safeguard the future of social work.

Founded in the autumn of 2001 and with its office in Bielefeld, the foundation mitLeidenschaft is a recognised member of the Diakonisches Werk of the Evangelische Kirche von Westfalen. Pastor Dr. Ingo Habenicht is chairman of the board, Burkhard Bensiek vice chairman. Dr. Claudia Schröder is managing director.
